In a traditional Japanese house, the room with the Tokonoma is considered the most important place in the house and is used primarily to entertain guests and for special occasions. The Tokonoma displays artwork, a hanging scroll, and Ikebana incorporating seasonal flowers in harmony with the season and artwork on display, both ikebana and artwork are arranged to reflect the changing seasons.
